The Point of a Private Fiction

Sometimes you can feel that
all the doubts that haunted you
were reasonable enough but wrong.
Perhaps the caution kept you going.
And now you can feel that
the choices you made were right after all
and you can feel the disparate elements
of your experience coming back to you
in a great council in your honor
and in that moment of their coming
you are humbled by your belief in yourself
and you are filled with a rare joy.
