| Conversation with an Owl
The owl was not calling my name tonight But he reminded me of something beautiful And familiar in myself: The wild rush of song and lust and courage “I’m here! he said, “and I will not be silenced!” This poetry has become a religion for me. Thank God I have something. “Good recipes, good food, Even building something right, Is not enough,” I said. “You need the sky.” “Still not enough,” he hooted hard again. “No. Not ever enough,” said I.
